I honestly cannot comprehend this stigma against attention seeking behaviour in our society. Why is it not okay to want to be noticed, to want your value or your pain or your accomplishments recognized by others? Why is fishing for compliments apparently inappropriate? Why do people always say “They’re just doing it for the attention” like it’s some kind of impure motive? Fuck that. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be acknowledged.
The fact that there’s a “gamer girl” stereotype at all is a really big fucking problem and I don’t see how people don’t get it. “Gamer” is a sub-culture enough, if you’re so against having women in your goddamn ~culture~ that you have to make them create their own just to fit in you don’t get to turn around and blame them when they try.
